Questions and answers

Short answers to the things people ask us most.

Is this a gambling or betting site?

No. Moss Byte reviews video games and nothing else. There is no betting, no casino-style play, no virtual currency and no prizes, and we have no connection with gambling operators. We also leave out games that include casino-style mini-games.

Can I play the games here?

No. We only write about the games. To play, buy the game from an official store such as the PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, Microsoft Store or a PC store, using the link in each review.

Do you earn money when I click a link?

No. We do not use affiliate links and nobody pays for a place or a score. The links are plain links to official pages.

Why only twelve games?

Twelve worlds give a shelf with something for every kind of explorer, from tough metroidvanias and survival games to gentle mysteries, and few enough that we can keep every review current.

What does 'costs after you buy it' mean?

It tells you whether a game asks for more money after the first purchase: paid expansions, soundtracks, cosmetic packs, or an online membership on your console. None of the games we picked sells random rewards.

Are these games suitable for children?

Many are, but check the PEGI label on the store page for your platform, because labels can differ between editions. Our healthy play page has advice on time and spending limits.

How does the planner work?

Choose a start time and a length. The Expedition timer shows eye breaks, a ten-minute warning and a point to save and stop. It runs entirely in your browser and stores nothing.

How can I suggest a game or report a mistake?

Use the contact page or email us. We read every message and correct mistakes quickly.

Exploration games can swallow whole evenings. Any tips?

Use the safe points we list in every review: benches, beds and campfires. Our Expedition timer on the home page sets a length and reminds you when to head back.
